HEMSLEY + HEMSLEY

Firstly, this book is amazing! A serious must have buy if you're looking for a new cookbook with personality, easy to follow and one that contains wholesome, healthy and just some downright good looking food. Created by two sisters, the Hemsley & Hemsley cookbook is filled with an exciting mix of over 150 recipes.

Another thing I love, apart from the layouts & photography is that it's not just a book filled with recipes - it's more than that. It shows you alternatives to current foods, providing healthier substitutions for the foods you love. It also helps to educate and look at food in a new way. It's definitely worth checking out this book if you've heard of the sisters before and are on the hunt for new and interesting recipe ideas. I've pre-ordered mine after falling in love with my friends copy! Once it's arrived I'll hopefully do another post showing the book in a bit more detail.

Check them out on: FacebookTwitterInstagramYouTube, Pinterest, Website, and of course their book - The Art of Eating Well.

BURBERRY PRORSUM S/S 2015

Just a few of my personal favourite looks from the Burberry Prorsum Spring/Summer collection 2015 collection.
I know I've mentioned it before but the Burberry catwalk show is something that I always look forward to seeing each season. I just loved the colours used, the fabrics, textures and cuts. I also fell in love with the brightly coloured catwalk and typography used for this seasons collection. Check out the full collection in pictures here or you can also watch the whole show over on the Burberry YouTube.

NEW YORK FASHION WEEK S/S 2015 DAY 8

The final day of New York Fashion Week and my top pick of the day has to be Erin Fetherston. A beautiful, feminine collection with a whole lot of pieces I loved. The mix of fabrics, texture and patterns created a lovely collection that had some great variety. With high necklines and longer hemlines to some of these pieces, they were sophisticated and elegant. Overall, a lovely collection and a designer that I'm definitely going to be keeping an eye out for more in the future.

If you've seen any of the NFYW coverage or any of the collections I'd love to know. You can watch a number of them live here as well as checking out the whole collections and more thorough reviews on the Style.com website.

NEW YORK FASHION WEEK S/S 2015 DAY 7

It was the penultimate day of New York Fashion Week and my focus was drawn to, and fixed, on the Michael Kors  collection. How gorgeous were these pieces?! I fell in love with so many outfits that it definitely solidified my love for Michael Kors as a clothing designer as well as their accessories. I adored the yellow flowers layered over the pieces, and the 3D effects of the florals on the skirts. The fabrics were airy with the collection being a mix of skirts and shirt pieces. Definitely check out this collection in full as there is so much detail to see and is not to missed.

If you've seen any of the NFYW coverage or any of the collections I'd love to know. You can watch a number of them live here as well as checking out the whole collections and more thorough reviews on the Style.com website.

NEW YORK FASHION WEEK S/S 2015 DAY 6

Florals, graphic prints and patterns made these three designers my highlights from this Tuesday of New York Fashion Week. Jenny Packham styled her pieces with a gorgeous almost 60/70's inspired full bouncy waves which worked perfectly with the designs. Oscar de la Renta produced a collection as delightful as ever, keeping it up there with some of my favourite designs that show in New York each year. And as for Tory Burch if I could have some of those pieces (especially the yellow outfit pictured below) in my wardrobe right now I would be a very happy person. If somebody could also makes the multicolored shorts (shown far left) into a pair for running, then I am completely sold. These collections were my definite favourites of the day and I would highly recommend checking each of them out in full. The hair and make up from Jenny Packham is now something I really want to wear day in day out. Can I just have that bouncy curly hair please?

I hope you enjoyed this post let me know your thoughts below. If you've seen any of the NFYW coverage or any of the collections I'd love to know. You can watch a number of them live here as well as checking out the whole collections and more thorough reviews on the Style.com website.

NEW YORK FASHION WEEK S/S 2015 DAY 5

Definitely a great mix of more day and evening wear looks on show today at New York Fashion Week.

Nanette Lepore showed a more laidback, yet still feminie, collection that showed some amazing pieces perfect for those warmer days. A mixutre of looser fabrics and tailored pieces create a well rounded collection and the colour palette was spot on for more neautral shades.
Lela Rose and Reem Acra were both heavily focused on evening gowns and more sophisticated evening wear. Showing full length gowns through a variety of textures and styles created two collections containing some great red carpet looks. Included in both were a coupe of pieces
The colour palettes were kept fairly neutral in their shades with the odd punch of a brighter colour to add some variety among the pieces. Overall, two great collections that showed off the designers with some stunning pieces.

LONDON FASHION WEEK DOCUMENTARY

As part of one of my modules at university for my first year we were set the task of creating a short documentary. As I love London Fashion Week I created mine around that theme. It isn't as perfect as I wanted it to be but it's a piece of work I'm proud of and wanted to share on here. I'm hoping to do a re-edit of it soon based around London Fashion Week as a whole rather than one specific season so I'll be sure to post that up when I get around to doing that!

I'm sadly not in London this year for fashion week but would really recommend anyone in the London to head down to Somerset House and just just check out some of the street style that's on offer. I loved being there last year and wish I could go back and film some more footage. I'm hoping to go again next year and create something similar but much longer in length.

A huge thank you again to @Rachhh_xo and @miss_magpie_spy for contributing quotes for this please. Definitely check out Rachel's blog and I highly recommend you to check out Nikki's website as her fashion illustrations and prints are absolutely amazing and just gorgeous.

I hope you enjoy the video. I would love to know your thoughts and if you have any suggestions for improvements. Let me know in the comments of tweet me @afloralcrown.

NEW YORK FASHION WEEK S/S 2015 DAY 4

Some highlights from Day 4 of New York Fashion Week - Spring/Summer collections 2015.
If there's one Spring/Summer collection you need to head over and check out in full, it's this one by Diane Von Furstenberg. Bright bold colours, amazing prints and a reappearance by gingham for the new season. Check out the full collection here

Christian Siriano this year has produced a lovely collection, I remember his when he was on Project Runway all that time ago and so it's amazing to see him doing so well in the fashion world and producing brilliant collections like this. This collection featured some brilliant embellishment detailing with added an extra dimension and detail to the collection. The fabrics were a range of satins, lace as well as lightweight and heavier fabrics. The range of fabrics held to create  a nice versatile and varied collection. Overall, it was a brilliant collection with a great mix of pieces, fabrics, and designs.
I really love the seeing each collection by Victoria Beckham. It's great to see what she produces each season. I think that she creates beautifully simple pieces with a range of mix and match basic designs. This season around it felt like this collection almost had a slight military and more formal edge to it. The full button shirts, collar detailing and cuts of the coats seemed partially influenced by uniform. After seeing this collection, and no doubt definitely after seeing the Burberry collection next week, a trench coach/camel coat has now been added to my wishlist.

Summary
So many lovely pieces have shown already at New York Fashion Week and we're only on day 4! Halfway through this week and I now have a HUGE list of pieces I want in my wardrobe and inspiration for the new season. I can't wait to see not only what the rest of this week brings, but also what the remaining cities of the "Big Four" has in store as well.

I hope you enjoyed this post let me know your thoughts below. If you've seen any of the NFYW coverage or any of the collections I'd love to know. You can watch a number of them live here as well as checking out the whole collections and more thorough reviews on the Style.com website.

NEW YORK FASHION WEEK S/S 2015 DAY 3

Some of my highlights from the shows that were presented on Day 2 of New York Fashion Week - Ready to Wear Spring/Summer 2015 collections.

Mara Hoffman's collection has featured some of my favorite pieces so far this week in New York. The fabrics were kept light, airy and perfect for the warmer months. I loved the embroidered detail that featured on a lot of the pieces. The color palette used was also right up my street, with a base of overall neutrals and then subtle hints of colour running throughout to add detail. I really loved this collection and would love to own some of these pieces in my wardrobe, especially a co-ord shin length skirt and matching top piece that was shown (above, middle).
The Suno Spring/Summer 2015 collection, to me, was quite graphic designed based with the patterns and shapes used. The bold floral prints and the use of graphic lines, creating a bold patterned detail. I liked the way the prints were placed onto quite simple cuts and styles, meaning although the prints were quite bold they weren't overpowering or created designs that were too extravagant. Overall, it's definitely  a collection that had a lot of great pieces and a very nice design base to it.

I LOVED this collection by Rebecca Taylor. A lot. The fabrics, patterns, designs and details were all so gorgeous. They were feminine, airy and just lovely designs and pieces for the new seasons. The layering of the fabrics worked incredibly well to create an elegant skirt design. This collection was definitely perfect for the warmer months, with a great mix of both day and evening time outfits.

Summary
Bold graphic designs, heaps more colour and interesting designs were the call for today's shows. Around half the collections showed today had a large base of monochrome but it was lovely to see a lot more colour, and patterns, as the week progresses.

I hope you enjoyed this post let me know your thoughts below. If you've seen any of hte NFYW coverage or any of the collections I'd love to know. You can watch a number of them live here as well as checking out the whole collections and more thoruough reviews on the Style.com website.

NEW YORK FASHION WEEK S/S 2015 DAY 2

Some of my highlights from the shows that were presented on Day 2 of New York Fashion Week - Ready to Wear Spring/Summer 2015 collections.
Rebecca Minkoff always pleases me with pieces that really suit the season and provides a great mix of designs that can be worn well throughout the seasons. This latest collection was no exception. I really loved the use of blues within in this collection, creating a gorgeous and light feel. The mix of dresses and trousers produced a collection that was well rounded and nicely contained a bit of everything. The overall feel of the designs was stylish, put together but still with a sophisticated and classy edge to it. The use of lace added more femininity, extra detail that added another dimension and texture to the designs. Overall, this collection contained some gorgeous designs, beautifully feminine and perfect for the warmer months.

I have SO MUCH love for this collection by Zimmerman. This is a designer I've previously unheard of but I am so glad I discovered them this season. The pieces were super feminine, frilly and just so delightfully pretty. I loved the use of layering among the designs, the mixture of fabrics creating textures and the beautiful colour palette that was used. I highly recommend you check out this full collection as the attention to detail throughout these pieces is just gorgeous!

Nonoo was a a designer I first noticed last year and so I was excited to see what they followed up with this time around. A lovely mix of both more casual day pieces as well as designs perfect for the evening. The mix of lengths throughout the pieces also created a lovely variation. The simplicity the designs kept a more relaxed feel but through the fabrics and patterns used it was still kept sophisticated. I really like this collection from Nonoo and will be interested to see what they'll bring to the catwalk for their 2015 Autumn.Winter collection,

Sally LaPointe stood out to me today due her bright use of colour. The vibrant orange used as an accent colour really helped add some vibrancy and impact to the more simple silhouettes and styles that were used. I loved the bright orange folder over bag that helped to add a pop of colour to brighten up the outfit. This collection was fairly simple in the cuts used but this worked nicely with some of the pieces featuring bold designs and accents. It allowed those to stand out without being too overwhelming or extravagant.

Summary
From the second day my favourite collection has to be Zimmerman. Just gorgeous designs that instantly caught my eye and held my attention throughout. Monochrome was noticeable again in many of the other collections shown today but I did really enjoy showing brighter colours that popped.

I hope you enjoyed this post let me know your thoughts below. If you've seen any of the NFYW coverage or any of the collections I'd love to know. You can watch a number of them live here as well as checking out the whole collections and more thorough reviews on the Style.com website.

NEW YORK FASHION WEEK S/S 2015 DAY 1

The first day of New York Fashion Week has quickly become one of my favourites since doing fashion week coverage on my blog. I LOVE the designers that show on this first day and I was waiting to see what some of my favourite designers have produced for the new season. So below is my collection highlights and summaries for a few of those designers shown on this first day!

Creatures of Comfort has yet again provided a collection that looks, as the name suggests, incredibly comfortable. What I love about this designer though is that it is still a very stylish collection, it's not sacrificing the style in order to maintain the comfort. I really love the mix of the thicker knitted pieces and the looser, lighter fabrics. It creates a great collection that contains both transitional pieces, and ones that can be worn straight from the beginning of the season. The knits consisted of a jumpers, waistcoats and longer cardigans. The pieces were all kept quite loose and were a good length. Altogether it was a slightly more casual collection compared to others, but still incredibly well put together and stylish.
Overall, I really liked this collection. It's great to see a collection that maintains a good balance between the style and comfort factor.

BCBG MAX AZRIA is back again this season with another beautiful collection. As with the past couple of collections, BCBG tends to feature silky, flowing fabrics that move with ease. The pieces are kept feminine and elegant, suiting the new season incredibly well. The colour palette was kept neutral with it's colours and even when a brighter colour was used it was a paler tone. These colours really fit in with the cooler months, being light and airy. I loved the sheerer, long fabrics that billowed slightly as they came down the catwalk. It was a beautifully put together collection that was stylish and sophisticated.

Tadashi Shoji has quickly become one of the collections I always make sure to head back to check each season. As always, this collection didn't disappoint me. I really loved the mix of colours throughout and there was a nice variety of tones within it. The use of black and whites provided a basic edge to some of the pieces, however details were added to these designs to not keep them too basic. The pieces overall were kept fairly simple in their cuts, but some featured details that looked gorgeous against their simpler backdrops. I really enjoyed this collection and love that although some pieces are kept basic, there is a sophisticated and impressive edge to them.

Marissa Webb has again produced a collection ready and raring to go for the Spring/Summer season with a fantastic balance of varying pieces. I really liked the mix of the trousers and skirts providing a great amount of versatility and balance. The designs had details that added interest but didn't over power the designs or look too extravagant, perfect for a collection that should, in theory, be ready to wear straight from the catwalk. The colour palette was kept basic with a mix of only a few colours allowing a great consistency across all the pieces. The dropped hems to many of the dresses allowed elegant designs that still kept a more casual edge to them. Overall, lovely feminine pieces that are great for both warmer and cooler days.
I LOVED the make up look that was used for this collection. A gorgeous bronzed eye that wasn't too extravagant and really added to the overall look of the collection.

Summary
Looking at the colours used across the collections on this first day, there were a lot of neutral tones. With the exception of three pieces in Marissa Webb's collection, there were no super bright colours that popped like we've seen in previous years from Spring/Summer collections. The neutral colours suit the cooler months of Spring, so it'll be interesting to see if any brighter and more punchy colours pop up across the rest of the week.

I hope you enjoyed this post let me know your thoughts below! Have you checked out any of the NYFW coverage? You can watch live the majority of the shows live here as well as checking out what the rest of the website has to offer.

FASHION WEEK SEASON RTW - S/S 2015

It's soon to be that time of year again when the designers head to the runways to show off their latest collections. For the past two seasons I've been showcasing my favourite designs, and I have enjoyed writing those posts so much I've decided to do it again this season. From tomorrow I'll be starting a number of posts all based around this years Spring/Summer collections showcased at "The Big Four", kicking of in New York.

As much as I love Autumn/Winter collections, Spring/Summer ones are normally my favourites and something I really look forward to seeing each year. Louis Vuitton S/S 2012 is still one of my all time favourite collections, but I definitely have a lot more designers that I'm ready to check out this year.

I hope you enjoy the posts that I've got coming up as much as I love writing and creating the images for them. Let me know your favourite designers and collections @afloralcrown.
