NEW YORK FASHION WEEK A/W 2014 DAY 7

Some highlights from Day 7 of New York Fashion Week.

Michael Kors showed a collection that had a fairly neutral color palette but one that worked incredibly well with the styles and shapes chosen. The overall look of the collection was kept elegant and feminine across all the outfits shown. There was a mixture of textures amongst many of the outfits which really worked incredibly well. I loved the embellished details on these pieces. They were kept delicate and really added to the designs without distracting from them. From super thick coats and cardigans this collection looked incredible. It worked well as a whole and they were plenty of pieces that I would love to have. This is one of my favourite collections I’ve seen from New York this week.

Marchesa showed off a beautiful collection of gowns that were each unique and individually stunning. Each piece was as elegant as the last and really showed of the designers skills in this area. There was a mix of textures from silkier fabrics and satins to lacier numbers. This mix helped to really create texture and dimensions within the pieces. The styles were elaborate and sophisticated creating unique shapes and really creating an interesting silhouette. Overall, this collection was one of my favourites I’ve seen in a long time. The attention to detail was clearly able to be seen and it truly looked amazing.

Compared to other collections of the day Reed Krakoff’s was less extravagant and more business wear. The pieces were fairly tailored in flattering cuts. Many of the outfits were created from two separates in the same color. This worked well within the designs chosen. The styles were kept loose with little shape around the waist. The colors were kept fairly mutual in this collection with nothing being too garish or bright. The addition of the small handbags worked incredibly well and created a nice well rounded collection.

Sass and Bride was another beautiful looking collection from this 7th day in New York. The designs and patterns chosen were interesting but worked really well within the full outfits. The high waisted pieces cinched the models in at the waist and created a simple silhouette. The embellished detail layering really lifted this collection and gave it a eye catching amount of designs that definitely grabbed attention. An overall, lovely collection that is definitely worth checking out for designs that offered something different.

Hugo Boss’s collection would look perfect for formal occasions. With the color palette being kept fairly mutual it allowed the designs to speak for themselves and really show of the silhouettes. Half of the collection was kept a lot more formal whilst the other half showcased more evening wear designs.  The shapes and styles of the pieces across all the outfits were kept basic with the pieces being brought in slightly at the waist to create a silhouette on the models. This collection was fairly smart and chic which always works well for the Hugo Boss brand.

Summary
This has been one of my favourite days from New York fashion week and has been a fantastic penultimate day of collections. There were a lot of darker colours on show again today, but these always work incredibly well for the Fall season.

I hope you enjoyed this post let me know your thoughts below! Have you checked out any of the NYFW coverage? You can watch live the majority of the shows live here as well as checking out what the rest of the website has to offer.
